THE WEIGHT OF TIME
Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Last piece of the year. Collage and painting on wall, done few days back in my studio, using some canvas that were around the place and also using one painting from my friends Blaqk, doing on that way a sweet distance collaboration.
This work depicts what 2020 has been for me, a fragmented year, where the time in isolation has been a heavy burden, time thinking about home, family and friends, future and past experiences, things that i wouldn’t be able to do and also a year of a lot of inner research and meditation.
As for the most of us, 2020 has been one of the most weird and difficult years ever. I couldn’t be able to see my family and friends around the world and I also couldn’t do what i most love, paint murals, travel and most of my art project and exhibitions were cancelled. I had to spend most of the year lockdown isolated indoors waiting till i was be able to go outside and go to my studio.
Even all this I still really positive, it Has been a year of reflection and spending long time indoor thinking about home friends and good memories, but also it was a year of experimenting, reading and deeply investigation to work on new ideas to perform my artwork.
I wish all the people who haven’t had it easy this year, a lot of strength and positive thinking for the new year!
